New Purex plus Clorox 2 Detergent - Review & Giveaway

Today is laundry day around here.
Every week I wash a ton of different clothes with their own laundry challenges!

Every week I wash these:

My husband works at an oil refinery.
Besides normal dirt and mud there is no telling what kinds of oils and gas are on his clothes!
It's important that they get super clean because they smell like oil, they feel disgusting and I don't want My Love going to work nasty!

Every week I wash workout clothes for JROTC!
Even though Lexi bathes in body wash, body lotion and body spray ~ they still smell like funky gym sweat and funk! Every Wednesday they all wear their uniforms proudly and as the mom of two daughters who are have been in JROTC, I want to do my duty as a proud American and send them looking sharp and clean!

These two crazies cause more messes than a little bit! They have their own special blankets, they love dirty socks and they mess up towels when they get a bath. I want my fur babies sleeping on soft blankets that smell good. They deserve that.

I'm starting to get a green thumb - I think.
At least once a week my clothes are full of soil, some bugs I'm sure of it, bug spray and food for my flowers.
Purex does an amazing job getting all the dirt out of my clothes because I still want to look cute even when I'm working in the garden.
I love where my girls go to school. Our town has so much school pride even if our football team is not so awesome this year! Every game these kids dress themselves in our school colors, paint themselves from head to toe and head out to the game. We have paint on all kinds of stuff: shirts, socks, pants and my white face towels. Purex with Clorox 2 gets my white wash rags white again and still let's my ladies have school spirit!
Besides gardening and baking, I also work in the medical field which means I wear scrubs!
I have colored scrubs, I have patterned scrubs and I have white scrubs. From my head to my toes you would not believe some of the things that I have on my body and on my scrubs and shoes:
Germs
Snot/Boogers/Mucus
Urine/Feces
Food/Drinks
Dirt
Skin - because I work with the elderly and they poor skin is normally so dry
Tears
and only God knows what else.
Purex with Clorox 2 keeps my whites white and my prints looking nice and more than that, it gets all the things that I touch daily off my clothes and shoes (yes, I wash my shoes too) so that I can come in fresh and clean the next day to do it all over again. I love hearing my residents say "You smell good!"

What crazy stains do you tackle at your house?

Weekend Recap - Labor Day Weekend

I was grateful to not be working this extended holiday. In the medical field there is no such thing as full weekends unless it falls on your rotation and holidays are non-existent but I love working in the medical field and so I sacrifice those times. This Labor Day Weekend was a busy one for us.
When we moved here the landlord told us no more pets other than Sophie and Gracie, however, we adopt things everywhere we go. This is Tex. He is our cat....well kind of. I haven't seen him in a few days so I'm getting a little worried.
We made Hasselback Potatoes (I'll share the recipe later this week). Everyone was supposed to eat them but Lexi headed off to the rodeo and Joseph ate lunch far too late.
Jill & I took advantage of Home Depot's Labor Day Sale and got a bunch of flowers and some black mulch to see if I like it better than the red.

My squash aren't doing too hot...that makes me sad.

I seeded tomatoes - I'll post about this one too this week.
I made some banana nut crunch muffins - you want that recipe too? You'll have to come back and check out the blog.

Joseph went fishing and we got to eat fresh catfish.
I also made some Harvest Popcorn and Butter Pecan cookies both of which Joseph has the photos and I'll share this week.

Besides those things I cleaned the house and did the laundry. It was busy but not overwhelming.
How was your weekend?

I'm A Nanny's Girl

Lots of people say Daddy's Girl and Mama's Boy.
While I am much closer to my mom than I am my dad, it was once very opposite, I can honestly say I am not a Mama or Daddy's girl.....I am a Nanny's girl.

We moved to Oklahoma and we found an amazing house. Our house is so amazing that both Joseph and I would love to own this house one day - I keep speaking it into existence. While the house is not in Texas, this house reminds me of my Nanny is so many ways and today, as I found myself out in the yard, it reminded me even more of how much I miss her and admire her.

It started yesterday when I got this is the mail. My mom sells produce on the square where she lives and my dad used to do the same - they are divorced so no, they didn't do it together though now they get along well enough they probably could. My Nanny was a gardener. Her yard was huge and it was full of plum, pear and pecan trees. One year she grew persimmons but I can't remember another year besides that one. Someone had a fig tree but I think it may have been us at the white house (not the White House but the house we called the white house). I have a decent yard where I live but we live in a house that is 118 years old and all the houses around us are too. My yard has to be beautiful, we live on the corner.

I learned a lot about my house, which I'll share in another post but one thing I do know is that the lady who manages the local Church's Chicken, her grandparent's owned this house. Some of the bulbs and plants have been here a long time, longer than the man who owns our house now. My dogs like to dig in two flower beds in the backyard. One has nothing in it but the other one had a ton of some type of mystery bulbs so I dug them all up so I can replant them.

Under one of the Oak trees in the front yard were some random Cannas. I dug them up too.

I am going to let them bloom and when they do, I am going to take some to the granddaughter of the lady who used to own this house. The lady is still alive so I may do two flower pots so she can give them to her grandmother.

My Nanny has been on my mind a lot recently. I don't know why so much but I don't care. I miss her and thinking of her is exactly what she wanted; to never be forgotten. After my Nanny passed away, one of my aunts gave me something beautiful.
I don't use it often, mainly because I'm terrified I'm going to break it. This is just like my Nanny. It's pretty, it's pink and it has flowers on it. I made Joseph some red velvet cupcakes for his birthday and while he didn't care what the cake plate looked like, I cared.

When I was little, we would fight over who got to water my Nanny's flowers. When we went someplace and she saw a plant she liked, she would take a little clipping, even if that meant stopping on the side of the road. We picked wild grapes and plums more times than a few. She never had much except love and food. I find myself not having much except love and food to give to my family and to my grandchildren. Maybe that will change one day but what more can a person ask for than real love?

I was surprised when I walked out my backdoor and saw this:

My Aunt Rachel told me today that my Nanny had these same Spider Lillies but hers were orange. She also offered to let me come take bulbs and clippings from my Nanny's plants. Y'all have no idea how happy that made me.

All this thinking about my Nanny got me thinking about my granddaughter, Eliana. She is my first grandbaby and I love and miss her dearly right now. In February, her cousin, Noah, will be joining our family. I am excited about him too but until I can share photos of him, let me overload you with Eliana. Oh, they are calling me Nanny too. Biggest honor EVER!!!

Hello September.....

It's never been a secret that Fall is by far my most favorite season EVER!!!!
There is something about Fall that makes me have an internal shift.
The air becomes cooler - Farmer's Almanac says the first cold snap will hit the 2nd week in September.....I'm praying so, the air smells different, football season is in full effect, my birthday is around the corner, the holidays are coming....I just love Fall.

So what do I plan to accomplish in September:

  • Start my new job this coming week. While I don't exactly love working weekends, it's a rotation and it's days so I will still have plenty of time with my family AND I can manage to get things done on my off days
  • Blog daily except the weekends. When I blogged before I literally blogged every single day without fail but I am not going to blog Saturdays or Sundays
  • 4 Fall Crafts & 4 Fall Recipes - Don't worry, I promise to share
  • Get furniture for the living room  and dining room - our old furniture had seen better days so when we moved to Oklahoma, we left the furniture in Texas.
  • Get out with the girls and walk. They will run but no way am I ready to tackle that
  • Plant some Fall annuals in the flower beds
  • Make my birthday list
  • Find a church to go to with my family

What are your goals for September?
